Hale Launches to Help People Find Heart Disease Earlier and Take Action Before a Heart Attack

Heart disease shouldn’t be discovered by a heart attack. Hale launches a new platform connecting heart imaging, advanced blood testing and physician guidance to help people understand their risk earlier and know what to do next.

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2026 — Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Yet it can develop quietly for years, while the path to understanding and managing personal heart risk remains fragmented.

Hale today announced its public launch to make earlier heart-disease prevention more accessible, understandable and actionable. Through one connected platform, Hale coordinates access to coronary artery calcium CT scans, advanced heart-health blood testing and results reviewed by board-certified physicians through independent clinical partners. Members receive clear explanations of their results, personalized preventive treatments and a way to follow their progress over time.

Following a period of early availability, thousands have already joined Hale to gain greater clarity about their heart health. In an internal analysis of completed heart scans in the last 12 months, 45% showed detectable coronary calcium: a sign that calcified plaque had begun to develop.

45% had detectable coronary calcium. Internal Hale analysis of completed heart scans over the last 12 months.

For Hale, that finding reinforces a simple idea: understanding heart disease risk earlier only matters if people can understand it and do something about it.

“A test result alone is not a prevention plan,” said Patrick Samy, co-founder and CEO of Hale. “People don’t need more health information. They need clearer answers and a path forward. Hale connects testing, trusted interpretation and next steps so people can understand their heart and know what to do next.”

From estimating risk to seeing it more clearly

Traditional heart disease risk assessment commonly relies on factors such as age, blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking status and family history to estimate someone’s future risk. These remain essential, but they do not always provide a complete picture of whether coronary disease has already begun or reveal inherited risks that may not appear in a standard checkup.

Hale brings together two complementary sources of insight:

  • Heart Scans: coronary artery calcium CT scans which can detect and measure calcified plaque in the arteries supplying the heart.
  • Heart Labs: advanced markers including Lp(a), ApoB, ApoA, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, VLDL, Homocysteine, hs-CRP, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Hemoglobin A1c and Lipid Panel Standard, among other tests.

Testing and imaging are performed by Hale’s independent laboratory and imaging partners. Results are reviewed by board-certified physicians working through independent clinical partners and organized in the member’s Hale dashboard.

Hale then connects those results to a clearer path forward:

  1. Start with testing. Members can arrange a coronary calcium scan through Hale’s growing network of 1000+ participating imaging centers or complete advanced heart labs.
  2. Understand the results. The Hale dashboard brings scan and laboratory findings together with clear explanations and clinical interpretation.
  3. Know what to do next. Independent licensed clinicians may recommend appropriate next steps, including changes to nutrition, physical activity, prescribing medication or additional medical follow-up.
  4. Monitor progress. Follow-up testing helps members see how important heart-health markers are changing over time, whether their prevention plan is moving them in the right direction and reducing their risk.

“Prevention shouldn’t end with a score and a PDF,” said Samy. “People deserve to know what their results mean, what they can do next and whether those actions are making a difference.”

A more personalized approach to prevention

Hale’s launch follows the publication of new 2026 clinical guidelines that place greater emphasis on earlier and more personalized cardiovascular-risk assessment.

The guidelines recommend measuring lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), at least once to identify inherited risk that may not appear on a standard cholesterol test. They also recognize that coronary artery calcium scoring can improve risk assessment and help guide prevention decisions in appropriately selected adults.

“For the right person, coronary calcium scoring can add information that traditional risk factors alone may not capture,” said Michael Blaha, MD, MPH, Professor of Cardiology and Epidemiology and Director of Clinical Research for the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease.

“Combined with markers such as ApoB and Lp(a), it can support a more informed conversation about prevention. The value of our clinical practice guidelines is not simply in finding risk, but in connecting that information to appropriate next steps.”

Hale is designed to support informed, physician-guided prevention and not indiscriminate testing. Testing eligibility, clinical interpretation, treatment recommendations and prescribing decisions are handled by independent licensed medical providers, and members are encouraged to share their results with their primary-care physician or existing healthcare team.

Available now

Hale’s Heart Scan is available for $249, Advanced Heart Labs for $149 per year, or together for $399. Services are HSA/FSA eligible and offered with transparent pricing.

Coronary calcium scans take less than 15 minutes at participating imaging centers. Hale coordinates the necessary clinical order through its independent partners, so customers do not need to obtain a referral themselves. Results are generally available in the Hale dashboard within seven to 10 days.

Advanced Heart Labs can be completed at one of our 5000+ partner locations or from home using Hale’s needle-free Homedraw device, with return materials and shipping included.

Availability is subject to location, clinical eligibility and applicable medical requirements.

Building for everything that should happen before heart disease becomes urgent

Hale’s initial focus is coronary heart disease, but its larger ambition is to make proactive, longitudinal prevention a normal part of healthcare. The company plans to continue expanding access to imaging, advanced diagnostics, physician-led care and ongoing treatment so that more people can move beyond simply knowing their risk and begin actively managing it.

“Healthcare has become remarkably effective at treating heart disease once it becomes urgent,” said Samy. “Hale is designed for everything that should happen before that moment.”
